Cloudy glass usually is caused by the build-up of minerals that forms a film when glass is washed and allowed to dry by evaporation.
Pieces like cruets, vases, jugs, ewers and especially bottles and decanters are very difficult to dry off after washing, and often develop a thin calcium residue on the inside.
Pitchers, compotes tumblers, stemware and the like that often have had a lot of use, also can develop a mineral film over the years. THE RESTORER glass cleaner gets down into those hard to reach

It's a specially formulated mixture of powerful yet harmless chemicals which, when dissolved in hot water, quickly breaks down the filmy residue of protein and minerals on the surface of glassware. WILL RESTORER CURE "SICK" GLASS? Well, no. Even though it may feel smooth to the touch, the surface of glass actually can become etched, and it is this microscopic irregularity that can cause the cloudiness associated with sick glass. Hard water, if allowed to sit in glass for a long period of time, actually can get into the pores of the glass and change the chemical composition of the material. Using acids and other harsh chemicals also can damage glass permanently. Dishwashers are notoriously unkind to fine glassware because they can bombard the glass with minute particles at high velocity. Sometimes salt that has been used in salt shakers or open salts, can cause a film or cloudiness by scratching the glass surface. If your glass really is "sick", you're pretty much out of luck, as nothing we know of can really cure it. If, on the other hand, the problem is surface mineral deposits, grease, or other matter (as it usually is) The Restorer will rejuvenate your glass and make it sparkle!
